Edge Browser Extension Failing

Hello,
I’ve had this issue since roughly september of 2025. BitWarden Extension used to work on Windows Edge Browser (I use it for work). It would happily autofil and logging in to which ever portal was a dream.
But since the date stated, I have this issue where I don’t get the auto-fil. Which I can get by I just select the extension and relevant password. The issue is once it logs in, I get a pop-up in the top right corner, stating “
“5b1d5cb9-4383-494a-ae2f-9fbc3192d4a8 refused to connect.”**.

Note: please ignore black boxes as its secure data. But the grey box is the pop-up I am referring to. (You have to hover over to get text)**

I have attempted deleting the extension, re-installing. I know its BitWarden as once I remove the extension and try to manually enter password logging in. This pop-up doesn’t appear. The reason why this is frustrating is that it doesn’t go away. So I cannot work on the portal I need to.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Or has had a solution?
Thank you for reading.

@Lucias Welcome to the forum!

I’m not sure if you meant for us to hover over to see the text? – When I hover over the screenshot, I just see the file name Screenshot 2025-12-09 080404.

And could you add some details to your system (OS version, Edge version, BW browser extension version…)?

Hi Nail,
thank you for the response. Sorry I wasn’t very clear: When I say “I hover over” I meant on the pop-up when it comes up to see the error message. In the screenshot on the grey pop-up you just see that ‘no doc’ icon. But when you hover mouse over it switches to:
“5b1d5cb9-4383-494a-ae2f-9fbc3192d4a8 refused to connect.”
As for the further details, please see below:

  • OS; Win 11, Enterprise (25H2) 26200.7171
  • Edge; Version 143.0.3650.75 (Official build) (64-bit)
  • BW ext: Version: 2025.11.1
    SDK: ‘main (8ef7951)’
    Server version: 2025.12.0
    Again, thank you.
    Lucias

Ah… okay!

Is this the BW US/.com or EU/.eu cloud? Or are you connecting to a self-hosted server?

Hello again!
Umn I assume its the US one..

thanks
Lucias

@Lucias Okay, what I still don’t really understand right now: do you have a general problem (“on all sites”) – or just a problem with a certain site (“portal” ?!)?

Maybe someone else has another idea – but especially if it’s a general problem, I would recommend to also contact BW support and see if they can help. (you could reference this thread here)

One thing you still could try here (if not done that way before): deinstall the extension again, but make sure that the local storage of the BW extension was/is deleted, before you reinstall the extension again.
