Easier User on boarding

Here’s a few things that could help:

I would like to create user accounts for users rather than asking them to click on “new around here?”. This will only be possible if I can force the user to change password at next logon.

Even better would be a way of sending the user a new set of credentials and a vault invite in one single email.

… so, you are talking about onboarding in the Teams/Enterprise structures?

Hi Nail1684,

I’m not sure. Specifically I was thinking of onboarding users in my self hosted Bitwarden password manager. You see at the moment I send out an email with screenshots asking the user to create their own account, then I have to check in the admin portal that they have done it correctly, then I send them out hte vault invitation.
And for the occasional new joiner this is no real hardship but for onboarding 50 or so new users this would be a right kerfuffle. If you send people out an email asking them to create their own account then about half will just ignore it.
So that’s kind of what I meant. Anything that lets me do the work for them (such as a button which makes them change their password at the next logon) will be so much easier than chasing people for an update.

Can you share more detail on the issue you’re experiencing? When you invite new members, they should receive an invite to join the organization which takes them directly to the account creation screen.

It does? I have been asking them to create their account first. I know that you can invite a user that does not have an account yet. But that is so different to what they are used to with other software that I tend not to bother.

I assumes (and I am sure this used to be the case) that the user just gets to a login screen and has the option to click on “new around here?”

I will test this. maybe it’s changed recently.

You don’t know if you have a Teams or Enterprise environment? (as you speak of “50 or so users”, I would rule out individual Premium or “Families” plans)

Or are you using an unofficial server?

I just checked on the subscription menu. It’s an enterprise plan. To be honest I don’t think about the subscription type to often.

Hey wow that works. When i invite a user without an accountto join a vault it asks them to set an account up. I am sure it didn’t work like that before.

That’s all I need. Thanks

Never mind - I mainly asked to understand your request better (and if it should be made more clear if it’s about “individual” onboarding or “organizational” onboarding), but…

… I take that as the request can be closed then?

Yes please and have a very good weekend.
