Hi,
with the newest KeePass Version you get the option “Do not store data in the Windows clipboard history and the cloud clipboard”, this would be cool for bitwarden as well (if possible).

Yes, this seems to be an important feature.
And I also could not find any timer to set, to delete passwords in clipboard after X seconds? EDIT: This seems to be requested here already: Automatically clear clipboard after X seconds when using copy functions
My wish is a bit different: Just clearing your clipboard doesn’t remove the password from the Cloud Clipboard!
I agree with @johannes here ; clearing clipboard after some time is an incomplete solution.
Clipboard managers are usually able to not record “sensitive” data, but apps have to identify their data as “sensitive” in the first place.
This might provide some help in doing so:

Are you sure? Won’t deleted Cloud History items also be removed upon synchronization?
In any case, while not final, I think deleting items from the clipboard history is a better solution than the current state. There seems to be an API for interfacing with the clipboard history which apparently allows even individual items to be deleted. I think I would like to try writing a fix for this. After some superficial search, I believe the clipboard deletion is done in app.components.ts using the SystemService class from jslib. I will definitely take a look at it. If someone wants to work with me on this, let me know.
Agreed. This is a security vulnerability and needs to be added urgently. It has been in KeePass since version 2.41 was released January 2019. KeePass 2.41 released - KeePass
From what I see, this feature still wasn’t implemented
I use clipboard history a lot and I think that passwords should be deleted from there shortly after copying.
Any updates here?
@abaddon - There is some collaboration taking place here: Windows 10 clipboard history keeps passwords after being copied · Issue #557 · bitwarden/desktop · GitHub
Thanks to everyone who shared their examples and concerns - I’m happy to announce that a bug fix will come with the next regularly scheduled release!
Has this been completed? I still do not see this functionality.
@Jacob_Faller Welcome to the forum!
This was implemented for the Desktop app in version 2023.10.0.
It might still be an issue for the browser extension. The above linked GitHub issue is still open:
I am removing the app:desktop tag from this topic (and leaving the app:browser tag) to reflect the current status of this feature request.
Who is interested in this topic may also be interested in Clear clipboard should be ON by default (instead of the current default “never”)
@grb Could you please add app:web-app to the topic? In browser extension, the feature to clear current clipboard entry was implemented according to App Settings | Bitwarden and Password Manager FAQs | Bitwarden and only clearing clipboard history seems missing, while for web-app, both are still missing. Thank you ![]()
@Georg_DE Feature Request topics unfortunately allow only a single app: tag. I hesitate to remove app:browser and replace with app:web-app as I am unable to independently confirm the state of the feature implementation in these two clients (as I don’t intend to enable the Windows clipboard history just for testing purposes). Thus, I will defer to @dwbit or one of my fellow mods to consider your suggestion.
I won’t enable the Windows clipboard history as well…
About those two clients: the corresponding GitHub issue for the browser extension is still open and shows no relevant activity. – And the web vault doesn’t even have any “clear clipboard” setting, as you @Georg_DE already also pointed out.
As this feature request is specifically about the OS ‘Windows’ and it’s clipboard history, I think there rather should be opened a separate feature request for the web vault to request a “clear clipboard” function, instead of changing this request midway from “browser extension” to “web vault”.
IMHO it shall not depend on wich app people are using but all of them shall be secure and in no case, sensitive data shall stay for long time in clear text in clipboard. So we would need 7 “identical” topics (one for each app and operating system combination) − does that really add value within the forum/community (completely different story for the development team’s task system)? Not sure…
@Georg_DE As I mentioned, the forum does not allow multiple app: tags. The practice on this forum is for feature requests that are tagged for a specific client app to be restricted to that single app. When the same feature requests applies to multiple client apps, we set the app: tag to app:all.
The os: tag for feature requests would normally be set to os:all, unless the feature is specific to one OS (such as the current feature request, which is related to the Windows Clipboard History).
I concur with @Nail1684’s recommendation that your desire to have a “Clear Clipboard” function in the Web Vault should be the topic of a separate feature request (tagged app:web-app and os:all).
