Do passkeys work on localhost?

Hi all,

I’ve been using passkeys on different websites through Bitwarden for a while now. As a web developer, I’ve even built applications which use passkeys and work with Bitwarden perfectly fine when live at their URL. However, whenever I try to use a passkey on one of those same applications running locally (at https://localhost:3000, for example) then Bitwarden doesn’t present the popup for passkeys. Traditional passwords autofill as usual, but it just doesn’t appear to let you register or sign in with a passkey. Does anyone know why this might be/if it’s possible to fix?

Thanks very much.

Passkeys created on localhost will only work on localhost..

I’m aware of that, unfortunately the issue is that bitwarden never prompts to create a password on local host, it goes straight to the device authentication (which doesn’t work for me as I’m on Linux, hence the issue). I don’t know if logging in with a passkey would work as I’ve never got that far!
