Do not search username (or at least make it a preference to not include in search results)

I almost never want to search username.

As an example: I just wanted to find the login for a particular email address so I searched ‘mail’, and almost every single login was listed as a result because they all have my ‘gmail’ email account as my username. That is useless to me. I know the username, I do not need to search it. If I’m searching Bitwarden I’m searching the name or domain of a login.

Can there be a setting added to remove username from search results?

Did you try searching for specific fields? Like:

>name:mail

or

>login.uris:gmail.com

Thank you for the work around, but I do not want to have to remember some search syntax just to achieve the normal functionality I expect from search.

I would say that your way of searching is idiosyncratic, and is likely not what other users would consider “normal”.

In case your proposal is never implemented, or if there is a significant delay before development is considered by Bitwarden, then your only recourse would be to use advanced search syntax (expressions starting with the prefix character >).

However, depending on what you’re searching for, you don’t necessarily need to use expressions as specific as the examples shared by @marlin above.

For example, if you just want a search for mail to show only items that contain the actual word “mail” (not “gmail”, “mailchimp”, etc.), then just use the following expression:

>mail
