- I primarily use Bitwarden through its Chrome extension
- The recent change made biometric disabled for all clients until the master password is provided to the desktop app once
- To enable it, I have to unlock my app, and immediately re-lock the app (because I don’t use it)
- I propose having a “Enable Windows Hello” button, which uses the master password to unlock and immediately re-lock it
- I also propose the desktop app bring itself to top most when I try to unlock from my browser
When you set your vault timeout in the desktop app to “lock” and “immediately”, you can get that already: enter the master password to “enabling biometric unlock” and the desktop app will lock immediately on it’s own then.
Apart from that, biometric unlock on app start will come back to the desktop app with one of the next releases.
Additionally, for the (Chromium) browser extensions we will get an option for biometric login and unlock without the desktop app – as passkey login and unlock is in development right now for the Chromium browser extension.
Please make that a separate feature request. (if there isn’t one already)
PS: As “biometric unlock on app start” (for the desktop app) is already in development again, I closed your feature request (with some delay).
