Hello,
I updated BW Desktop app this morning and noticed that the text on the left side is now a light blue color with a grey background.. I looked and can’t figure out a way to change this. It is really hard to see the folders I have made now because of this. Does anyone else have this issue or have noticed it? Thank you!

Hi Jack, can you share a screenshot of how the sidebar appears to you? Be sure to obscure any sensitive data.

In the meantime, did you try switching themes (light/dark) at the bottom of the settings menu?

I just checked my laptop and logged in with the prior version and it was white and updated to the latest version and it’s the same blue as my desktop one. The white is the prior version, blue is latest. I have checked the theme by switching as well, same blue. Attached is the “light” theme. What’s odd is that it’s on both my laptop and desktop and you can see the past version was with white text. I will try reinstalling. I mean it’s not a huge deal if it’s just me, but it’s odd that it’s happening on both my computers now. It seems, you are using an unofficial server software, which is not supported by Bitwarden, as it is an independent product. From time to time, there will be compatibility issues between the official Bitwarden client apps (browser extension, mobile app, desktop app…) and an unofficial server product, when Bitwarden implements changes to its own server software and/or client apps. “…Bitwarden cannot guarantee that official clients will work perfectly with non-official servers.”
(Also due to this - and for other reasons - we recommend using the official Bitwarden server software.)
It is generally not possible for members of the Bitwarden community (users or developers) to help with such issues - and with issues of the unofficial server itself. Please seek support in their community spaces.
If you can replicate your issue on an official Bitwarden server, feel free to open a new thread here.
PS: Make sure you’re on the latest server version.
Hi! Would it be possible to revert the sidebar text color back to white/black/grayscale as it was before? I’m having a bit of trouble reading it in dark mode since it’s blue now (and blue-on-blue feels a bit tricky). I’d really appreciate this change!

This looks like a Vaultwarden issue, therefore I moved your post into this thread. See the posts above.
(If you’re not using Vaultwarden, please post again or send me a message, then I can relocate your post. – But then also make sure, your self-hosted Bitwarden server is up to date.)
Not sure if this observation is related to OP’s issue, but I have also noted color distortions in (Portable) Desktop 2026.2.1 — using an account on Bitwarden’s cloud server. In my case, I use the standard (light) theme, and the blue background color is no longer the standard “Bitwarden blue”:
Good question… but for now, I would tend to think that change is intentional and part of the redesign.
Actually, on Github, Bitwarden claimed they were unable to reproduce it…
