When using biometrics to unlock the browser extension, it prompts me: Please unlock this user in the desktop application and try again.
But before, the desktop application required logging in but no unlocking was required to use biometrics to unlock the browser extension. Is there a way to go back to the way it was before?

I support the question, I also encountered this and now for me this is the most important problem in Bitwarden that makes its use incredibly inconvenient and even makes me think about migrating to another password manager.
I can guess that this change could be related to some security improvements, but I believe that another solution without degrading the user experience could be found. Requirement to unlock the desktop application in advance of unlocking the browser extension makes the biometrics feature in extension almost useless.
This requirement was temporarily added a few months ago to mitigate a security vulnerability. A more-convenient fix is reportedly “in the works”.
