Desktop app - auto-type (Windows, MacOS, Linux)

I think this is something completely different.

Edit: Nevermind, I misunderstood the reference

Any release date for this?

Would like to know as well.

@here ClickPaste is a godsend for all Windows users who need this!

It types the clipboard content on keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Alt + V.

There’s any update about this?

I was looking for a “keyboard macro” utility just like this. I have some weird edge cases where I am using the password manager app on a Flipper Zero to act as a keyboard to enter credentials. One being, a mostly headless homelab server with an utterly ridiculous root password where I occasionally find myself having to patch in a KVM in to something.

Whoa how’s that even possible?! Guess you’re talking about flipperZeroPasswordManager (catalog) Really cool. To which device is the Flipper connected and how do you get the passwords onto it?

While waiting, I use Raycast(Mac + Win) and Bitwarden extension to this.

Our organization had been using KeePass on Windows. After switching to Bitwarden Enterprise, auto-type is the most missed feature.

It would also be a great feature for Mozilla Thunderbird. It supports a Primary Password, that should be autofilled by BitWarden.

@utility3344 No argument from me about that – but just this notice: you can already drag & drop passwords (or most other vault item fields) from the BW apps into fields also outside of the browser. (if those fields don’t protect against that)

I believe this function enables automatic copying and pasting. However, if copying and pasting doesn’t work on a VM or via RDP, this function will have no effect.

@bPmMaN Welcome to the forum!

Are you referring to auto-type here?

I mean your post about the drag and drop

I just learned today, that some website block pasting and seemingly autofill as well when creating passwords, even though it is against e.g. NIST guidelines… Looking forward to this feature.

That’s the one. The Flipper app saves credentials into a plain text file on the SD card. It is very much a security weakness, so choose which passwords you save here carefully! It’s a simple comma delimited txt file. Whatever you enter as the “website” when saving credentials in the Flipper App is the name that shows in the list. You can enter creds with the Flipper app or manually edit the file yourself from the SD card. To use the app for login, you need to have the Flipper paired as a Bluetooth keyboard or plugged into a device over USB.

passwords.txt format looks like this:

Example.com,user@example.com,terrible-password
My Server,root,Pa$$w0rd_is_G0d_M0d3
Anonymous-PC,,password

Note: As seen on that last line, you can also have it just enter passwords by leaving the “user” section blank. I think I’ve used it that way before–been a while so anyone’s welcome to correct me if I am wrong.

Does that mean this feature is already available, but I need to enable it via a policy? And is that a premium feature only? I thought auto-type was a feature of the desktop client and that it would be available with a new client update.

No, it’s not available yet. And that screenshot must be from an implementation regarding enterprise policies.

As far as I know, yes, “auto-type” will be a premium feature.

Yeah, I think so too. Only, we still don’t know when this update will arrive…
