Deleted Self-Hosted Admin

Hi folks. I’m running self-hosted Bitwarden and when I replaced my phone, I lost the MFA for my Bitwarden account. Luckily, I had a browser logged in somewhere, so I exported from there, and using the /admin console I deleted my old user, re-added it, and imported my data.

Well… I believe my old user was the only one in the admins group. When I login to my vault, I cannot see Admin Console, and neither can any other user. How can I recover that access?

I have a self-hosted Organization as well, and as of right now nobody seems to have the ability to add my recreated user to it.

@rfpludwick Welcome to the forum!

I’m not sure, but doesn’t that help site: System Administrator Portal | Bitwarden provide the info to add another admin?!

Very good! And you probably can’t change anything to that now, but in case you were not aware - and in case you might miss something and do still have access to your “old” data: all exports don’t contain attachments, Sends and items in the trash - and CSV exports don’t contain card, identities and passkeys.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t make someone an admin of an organization. I ultimately exported the organization’s entries, deleted it, then recreated it - with two admins.
