CRITICAL: need additional ways to receive login code - locked out of BW because phone w/ email account is lost

Guys, I feel really bad for setting up fried with BW… because he’s locked out of his account. He’s totally non technical. He only has one phone, no PC, no tablet, etc. His emails are only on his phone. He’s got ALL his accounts and passwords on BW… I made him change all his password to make them different and complicated passwords. I made him memorize his BW password… he remembers his BW password, but now BW send his code to his phone… which is lost. We’re stuck in a loop!!! there HAS to be another way to get that stupid code - THINK ABOUT THIS. Maybe let users enter 2-3 different emails for code? and ask them which email they want to code to be sent to… Your current system is NOT WELL THOUGHT THROUGH. PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP. There has to be a way to break out of this loop.

Your friend should contact Bitwarden support about this.

For the future: setting up 2FA turns off this “new device verification” - and having the email login credentials on the Bitwarden emergency sheet (alongside the email address, master password, 2FA recovery code, server region, export-password…) is another fail-safe.

Besides regular - or at least occasional - backups/exports of the vault…
