Closing account, but is it still open?

I lost access to my USB flash drive few days ago with all my passwords in my vault and my Master Password…

I went through my vault and updated all site entries (on my computer) “sae them briefly to text file” as since I also lost access to MP, I would have to delete account and re-create new one (which I’m in the process of doing)

I went though Bitwarden Web Vault

and for the popup saying “account deleted” and I got logout out of extension in Firefox…

However, iOS not only stays logged in, but all my password I deleted are still there in my Vault, as if noting has changed.

I’m assuming this is only local (device only), because when I try and delete an entry on iOS, it said “Resource not found”, yet when I check sync under Settings, it says “time/date sync”

but can someone confirm this?? If this is actually gone, then all I would need to do Is log out… however I’m wondering now if my account has even been deleted at all…

@tech

Bitwarden stores your current date in its cache, so if you don’t have an internet connection, you can still access your data for some time. See more details here.

Moreover, it’s not clear to me if you want to recover our account or what your intentions are. But if you need support with anything, you can contact Bitwarden here.

I’m sorry if I misunderstood something, but I hope I helped you.

Have a great day!

I wish to know permanently close and delete my account

If you deleted your account, it is permanently.

From verifying for yourself perspective, you can:

  1. Try logging in the web vault
  2. Try getting the web app to send you a master password hint
  3. Try deleting the account: Delete an Account or Organization | Bitwarden Help Center

If these three don’t give you anything, then as far as you can verify, your account is deleted.

Because of the company’s backup’s strategy, it most likely can restore the entire system, including your account, for probably at least 7 days. After that it probably won’t have anything, except your billing info, if any.

I personally think a “synced” application can get plenty of things wrong, including its own synced states.

You could also try to register a new account using the original account’s email address.

Yes, @tech, @chraebsli 's understanding is correct. You were logged in on that device so there is still a cached version available there until you log out. You would subsequently not be able to log back in with that account as it no longer exists outside of that cache.

Feel free to use any of the other methods mentioned to verify!
