Chrome Browser Extension Not Working

Hm, okay, thank you! So, indeed you disabled 2FA.

Which browser (including the version) are you using?

Google Chrome is up to date

Version 143.0.7499.170 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Okay, then please try the following:

  1. deinstall the BW browser extension
  2. make sure that the local data of the BW extension is deleted
  3. restart your computer
  4. re-install the BW extension
  5. try to log in again

How do I make sure the local data of the BW extension is deleted?

Search for the folder that is mentioned in the link – and if it wasn’t already deleted, then delete it manually.

As you’re on Windows and using Chrome, it should be this folder / location:

Browser extension

  • Windows
    • Chrome: %LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Extension Settings\nngceckbapebfimnlniiiahkandclblb

Ok I did those steps and when I added the BW extension the first time I logged in it asked for a verification code that it sent to my email address. Once I put the code in it logged me in. I closed the browser and it asked for master password and let me in. I then logged out of the app and logged back in with email and master password and it let me in. So it looks like it may be working now. I will let the computer sit awhile and see if something happens and it stops working.

Yeah, that is expected. – Explanation: as you now disabled 2FA for your BW account, that automatically enabled the so-called New Device Login Protection (NDLP).

Yeah, after you first logged in now, your “device” (actually, that instance of the BW app) is “known”, i.e. not a new device. If you wanted to log in on a new instance of any BW app, then you would have to enter that NDLP-driven email verification code again.

Yeah, it seems your extension (or extension data) had a “hiccup” – and you reset the extension now, so to speak.

The NDLP is kind of a additional and yet basic protection (besides the master password) for your BW account. Setting up 2FA again is recommended as it’s a stronger form of protection for your BW account. – But if you do so, don’t forget to at least write down your 2FA recovery code on your emergency sheet(s).

PS: I’m glad, we finally figured out how to solve it for you! – And for now, I’ll mark your last post as the solution.
