I use Password Manager on both Chrome and Firefox browsers simultaneously and it works well with both. However, I have to log in to each separately. Any way that one login can serve sessions on both browsers?
There is not a way. What most people do is set their settings >> account security >> timeout action to lock (as opposed to logout) and then use windows hello biometrics (on the same settings page) to minimize the authentication burden.
First, you have tagged your post using the app:desktop
tag, but you are asking about using Bitwarden on a browser (not the Desktop app). Are you referring to the Web Vault app, or the browser extensions?
Second, if you are asking about browser extensions, why are you logging out of the browser extensions after you have logged in? With the Web Vault app, I understand — it is not possible for the Web Vault to stay logged in when you close the browser tab.
Thanks for getting back to me.
I’m using the browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox. They don’t communicate. Not the end of the world but I need to sign in to each of them multiple times per day.

I have changed the app:
tag for your post from app:desktop
to app:browser
, to prevent further confusion.
As @DenBesten already indicated, the two browser extensions will not communicate with each other. The best you can do, if you are already logged in to either the web app, mobile app, or desktop app, is to use the Login with Device feature to avoid having to type your master password when logging in to your browser extensions.
However, you didn’t answer my second question: why are you even logging out of your Chrome and Firefox browser extensions? You should allow these to remain logged in indefinitely, unless you have some very peculiar security needs. Your vault data can be secured by locking, and there are plenty of options for vault unlocking that do not require the input of a username and master password (or 2FA).
I’ll check out the Login with Device.
I was imprecise. I’m not logging off but locking after 4 hours. I see I could set up to use a PIN instead of the master password.
Thank you for the clarification. FYI, “Login with device” will not help if you are unlocking instead of logging in.
Leaving your vault unlocked for that long is risky, unless you have exceedingly strong malware defenses and barriers preventing unauthorized physical access to your devices. While the vault is unlcoked, all of your vault contents are kept unencrypted (in plain text) in your device memory, where it is ripe for the taking by malicious actors using a memory dump.
If typing the master password is onerous, set up either a PIN or biometrics (e…g, a fingerprint or face recognition) to unlock your vault.
Your vault should be locked whenever it is not actively being used. I recommend setting the Vault Timeout interval to one of the first four options (“immediately”, 1, 5, or 15 minutes).
