Can't Log into Bitwarden on Browser Extension, Windows App, or Android — Only Web Vault Works

I’m having a strange issue with Bitwarden and could really use some help.

I can log in to the Bitwarden Web Vault just fine using my master password. However, when I try to use the browser extension (Brave/Chrome), the Windows desktop app, or the Android app, my login fails every time.

I’ve triple-checked my master password and email address. I’m definitely using the same credentials across all devices.

Out of concern for my security and due to a lack of confidence in the platform at that moment, I decided to delete all of my vault data.

Now I’m trying to understand:

  • Why would the Web Vault accept my login but the other apps/extensions don’t?

If anyone has faced this or has insights, I’d really appreciate your help.

Did you check if you chose the right server region (US/.com or EU/.eu)? Those two are not interchangeable.

(when you click on bitwarden.com, you can change to .eu or self-hosted)

You are not the only one… And there were some suggestions how to change this - see e.g. this feature request: Try the other vault upon login failure (and one design change suggestion was made here)
