Can't Get Facebook Recovery Codes

When I set up security keys for my Facebook account, I got recovery codes to print and store in my safe.

When setting it up for my wife, I didn’t see an option for accessing the recovery codes.

The instructions below do not work because there is never anything labeled “Recovery Codes to tap.”

Anyone know how to get them?

Nonfunctional Instructions:

  1. Tap in the top right of Facebook.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap Settings, then tap Security and Login.
  3. Tap Use two-factor authentication.
  4. Enter your password and tap Continue.
  5. Tap Recovery Codes, then tap Show Codes.

It’s wild that you can’t do the same thing to get the same result for two different accounts.

I don’t use a security key for FB, but I see this option in:

  1. Desktop web browser (FF): My picture on the top right → Settings & Privacy → Settings; In the left panel, Accounts center → Password & Security → Two Factor Authentication → My picture → Additional Methods → Recovery codes

  2. Android App: 3 bars on the top right → Setting & Privacy → Settings → Seee more in Accounts Center → Password & Security → Two Factor Authentication → My picture → Additional Methods → Recovery codes

So, pretty much the “same” path for both apps. Hope they work for you.

Thanks for taking the time to write that up, Neuron!

You are exactly right that it works for my account and not hers.

When I go through the steps you wrote out when logged onto my account, I get (web, Brave):

But when I do it for her account, I get:

I just have to figure out why they are different.

I turned off SMS verification for her, but I still don’t get access to Additional Methods.
