I reinstalled bitwarden in a new PC and I have the login details, but I was a bit thoughtless and didn’t think this could happen. I also occasionally access Bitwarden through my telephone, which I haven’t changed, but it also requests the code from the verification email. I have many important passwords in there, can anything be done?
If the request for the email verification code is email 2FA, then this would be a perfect time to use your 2FA recovery code.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then you probably didn’t set up any of the available 2FA methods for your Bitwarden account/vault and are experiencing the so-called New Device Login Protection (NDLP). In that case, contact Bitwarden support and ask them to temporarily suspend the “NDLP”, so that you can login without the need of the verification code. (IIRC, it is a 24-hour window)
Afterwards, you could consider setting up 2FA for your BW account, which would automatically deactivate the NDLP (as long as you don’t deactivate 2FA). If you set up 2FA, make sure to store your 2FA recovery code also on your emergency sheet(s) - besides at least the master password. If you rely on any email verification code mechanism, it would make sense to also store the email login credentials (including 2FA if there is any) on the emergency sheets.
Regular exports of your vault are also recommended, so that you (hopefully) never can lose everything…
