Cannot complete update to BitWarden Desktop Client v2025.11.1 on MacOS Tahoe

Hi there,

I just downloaded Bitwarden v2025.11.1 for MacOS (Tahoe) from the Bitwarden WebSite.

When I try to drag the Bitwarden App from the DMG to Apps folder (either inside the DMG or directly into the Apps folder), it starts by asking my credentials.
Upon entering the credentials the installation stops complaining about the fact that some components need to be skipped (but there’s no way to do so).
The complete message (unfortunately in Dutch) is:

There’s no other way to continue / finish the installation except pressing OK which cancels the update / installation.

FYI: I’m currently running Bitwarden v2025.10.0 on MacOS Tahoe 26.1

Any thoughts on how to solve this?

I’m not on MacOS - but I think I’ve read that installing 2025.11.1 via the App Store would work.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don’t know how the licensing will work.
Not sure whether the licensing is related to:

  • the E-Mail address
  • the software installation.

You mean your Bitwarden account?

You can use any BW app to access your Bitwarden account.

Any paid Bitwarden license is tied to your email address (Bitwarden username).
