Bug report with Zimbra + Firefox + MacOS/Windows10

Hello.

I have this small but annoying problem : when the BitWarden 2024.8.1 AddOn is activated on Ffox 130 with a MacOS 12.7.6 [edit : same problem on windows10], my mail client Zimbra 8.8.15_GA_4156 is not able to display the body of received emails (but i can display the copy of body if i clic to reply, as it appears as quote in the reply window).

I tried every other AddOns, it is only BitWarden that is the problem as you can see on this 2 screen captures below (one with only BitWarden activated, cannot see the body of mail ; another with everythning activated except BitWarden, and mail body appears right).

[edit : since i update BitWarden, the problem also appears on windows10]I have to say this problem doesn’t appears on another computer with Windows10

A few things to try:

  • On the vault entry, click edit and next to the url on the gear menu set the match detection to “never”.
  • On the autofill page, turn off autofill completely.
  • On the notifications page, turn off “use passkeys”.
  • On the notifications page, add the website into excluded domains.

To truly file a bug report, head over to github and either select “new item” or if you see an existing report add onto it.

Hi, first, before to reply DenBeste, i should say something important.

Since this morning, as Firefox on Windows ask me to update itself, i have the same problem ALSO in windows. So both MacOS or Windows, problem to display mail body on Zimbra + FFox + Bitwarden.

Hi DenBesten

I did not understand the first option (i have a french version of Bitwarden, so the name of menus are different. maybe a screen capture could help)

I tried the second option and it doe"s not seems to work, but not sure i did it well. Just uncheck this case :

The third option works. On the both MacOS and Windows. But it think is a problem to turning off the “use passkeys” (i suppose it will not update my passkeys automatically, now)

The fourth option didn’t work

Here are bitwarden’s instructions for match detection. (#1).

#3, “turn off passkeys” does seem to be the most common (although somewhat impactful if you use them) solution.

You might report this as an issue on this page: Report auto-fill failure

And, to survive in the meantime either use “incognito” mode or a different browser for Zimbra. “Use Passkeys” is a setting that one needs to make separately in each browser, so you could have it off in Chrome and on in Firefox.

Hi DenBesten. My first problem is not to understand what mean match detection, but just to see where i have to go in Bitwarden to try it.

In exemple, i put here a screen capture that shows where i have to go to apply your options 2 3 and 4.
But i don’t see where to go to apply the 1…

What is “vault entry” ? What is “gear menu” ?

This picture is a “vault entry”. The green arrow shows the “gear menu” where you change the “match detection”.

“Default match detection” means to use whatever is configured here in settings

OK, i got it.
To arrive to the picture you’ve made, i have to.
Go on the page where i have problem, clic on the BitWarden icon.
Then i see the name of the domain, on its side I have to clic on the button for “display”, like here (capture 1)

Then I have to clic up right to edit, like this : (capture 2)

Then i can se the gear menu you are talking about.
Unfortunately, i see it is already on “default choice”. (capture 3)

Didn’t follow the whole conversation, but I guess:

@DenBesten suggested not to choose “default” (this was just an example, so to speak), but to set it for the vault entry to “never”:

Sorry, if I misunderstood something because I didn’t read the whole thread.

You understood properly. But given that #2 (disable autocomplete entirely) did not work, I am skeptical that #1 (don’t match this entry) would be any better.

You’re right, Nail1684, I read too fastly.

I tried with “never” but that does not work. Only the #3 works.
