Browser extensions icon doesn't show number of logins after last update (2025.7.0)

Today after last update extension (2025.7.0) icon in Chrome (Brave, Edge) dont show number of login. All browsers last versions. In Edge icons grey colour, in Chrome and Brave blue colour.
Pin-code login ok, but icon dont show number of login. In previous version extension was all ok.
What doing?

I experience the same issue. Sometimes the number is visible, but most of the time it isn’t. To be honest, the constant bugs and regressions in almost every new version are starting to become frustrating.

Same here

I tried to completely delete the extension in Chrome, and install it again - this did not help.
After restarting the browser and input of the pin-code, the numbers appear on the icon. But if you refresh the page, the numbers disappear.
In Edge, the number is not shown even after the browser restarts and the gray icon is always.

Thanks all, we’re looking into these reports, thanks for your patience!

Just to confirm, are you not seeing the number at all, or the number of matching logins is incorrect?

Number of matching logins is correct.
Now the behavior has changed. When simply surfing the web, the number on the icon is shown (correctly). But if refresh the page, the number disappears. If you simply follow the links on the page again, the number on the icon appears again.
In Edge browser icon now blue (was grey).
Now all work and show good if not refresh page (temporarily stops showing the number on the icon).

This bug has been reported on Github (Issue #15810):

Hey all, just to follow up, can you confirm if you are using official backend, or a third-party server?

I also see some funny things with the BW icon e.g. showing a nice blue-white “1” (or whatever number) while the extension is locked (!) in the meantime… → official EU server region

using official backend

I also noticed this issue using the Chrome Extension. The number of entries no longer show regardless of how this box is checked:

Experiencing this using the official bitwarden.com server.

Is the number always correct? If so, that implies a security vulnerability!   :open_mouth:

Oh, I’ll look closer now what happens. But I think, it’s more like the icon remains in it’s last state (and that state just doesn’t update, when the extension locks).

Ha, now I could observe it. And I was wrong before (where I thought the icon remains in it’s last state) - my extension just locked and the BW icon changes it’s state in accordance with the site I’m on now.

So you navigated to a new site after the extension locked, and the badge counter shows the correct number of matches for the new site?

This would imply that the vault is not truly locked (e.g., the decrypted vault contents are not cleared from memory), or that the encryption has become leaky.

This would represent a significant security vulnerability, so I would recommend that you continue to document the behavior and raise a separate issue on Github. It would also be useful if you could offer any tips on how to reproduce the behavior, so that others can experiment with it, as well.

I’ll consider that. And I already regret not having recorded it.

So far no recognizable pattern. Yesterday, I tried to “provoke” it several times, but it seems occuring only randomly so far.

Even if you can recollect the sequence of key events (unlocking, browser navigation, locking, etc.) for instances when the behavior did occur, that might be a helpful first step.

Like you, I am experiencing it on Opera and I can find no recognizable pattern so far. Seems to occur randomly.
