It is not possible to activate Windows Hello in the browser extension. I always get the error message that the browser extension should be set up in the desktop app settings. But it is set up.
There are the following workarounds that do not help, which is frustrating for our global rollout for some users.
1 - Open Edge on your computer
2 - Right-click on the Bitwarden icon and then select Manage extension
3 - Activate Allow access to file URLs
4 - Open the extension and authenticate yourself.
5 - Close the browser and then open it again.
6 - Open the Bitwarden desktop application and then go to File → Settings
7 - Deactivate the setting for browser integration
8 - Close the desktop app settings to make sure the new setting is saved
9 - Open the desktop app settings again
10 - Select the setting for browser integration
11 - Close the desktop app settings again to ensure that the new setting is saved
12 - Re-enable biometric unlocking in the extensionWorkaround
other workaround ( also not working)
In Bitwarden Desktop:
- Disable Login With Windows Hello
- Disable Browser integration
Restart your machine.
In Bitwarden Desktop:
- Enable Browser Integration
- Enable Windows Hello / Biometrics
In the Browser Extension:
- Enable Biometrics
I am desperate please fix the problem with an update or working workaround. We are lowering the acceptance of the tool.
