When using Firefox v133 and attempting to log into my bank the process hangs and never completes. I am able to open a private window and login normally but the bank needs to verify my identity each time. If I disable bitwarden in the browser I am able to login normally. When I reenable it it hangs again and never completes.
@mrw Welcome to the forum!
If you would like for us to attempt to assist with this, please provide a URL for the bank login form.
The form is embedded in the site:
I have determined that the autofill process works as it should on that login form. Unfortunately, I cannot conclusively test the login form submission, since I do not have an account on that site; when I submit the login form with fake credentials, it does not hang — I get an error message saying “Either your User ID or password is incorrect.”
Could you please perform the three tests suggested below (with the Bitwarden extension enabled, and using a non-private window), and report your results?
-
Instead of using Bitwarden to autofill the login credentials, just type in your username and password manually, then submit the login form? Does it hang?
-
Reload the login form (using Ctrl+F5 to clear the cached data), then attempt to log in using a set of fake or incorrect credentials. Does it hang, or do you get the error message “Either your User ID or password is incorrect”?
-
In your Bitwarden browser extension, go to Settings > Notifications and disable “Ask to save and use passkeys”, then attempt to log in to your account. Does it hang?
- Manually entering my login information still causes the process to hang.
- Entering fake credentials produces the expected error message.
- Those settings are already in place.
It seems that the settings in your screenshot are the Firefox settings. In the third test that I had suggested above, I was instructing you to change the settings in the Bitwarden browser extension pop-up, by going to Settings > Notifications:
On the Notifications screen, uncheck the box for “Ask to Save and Use Passkeys”:
Sorry, my mistake.
I unchecked the box and am now able to login normally. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Technically, there is still a bug, but I’m glad that the suggested work-around seems to be satisfactory for your purposes.
