Broken biometrics on Firefox extension (Linux)

Hi,

I recently reinstalled Arch Linux and can’t enable biometric authentication in the firefox extension anymore.

Both bitwarden and firefox were installed through pacman and the “Allow browser integration” toggle is ticked in the desktop client.

However, when trying to enable the option in the browser extension, it tells me that the biometric unlock isn’t enabled for my account in the desktop app.

What’s weird is that if I manage to tick the option before it gets grayed out (and that message appears) I do see the prompt to enable it in the desktop client, with no luck as it doesn’t actually work after it disables itself.

Hello!
Facing same issue here. Help is appreciated.

I looked into this and I seem to no longer see a “Unlock with system authentication” tickbox in settings

@Joshua26Brown can you confirm if this is the case for you too?

@alba4k Which version of firefox and the desktop client? Is biometric unlock working in the desktop client?

Hey, as I said the problem appears to be with the desktop client, as the “Unlock with system authentication” option is simply not there anymore. I have tried downgrading up to 2024.12.1 and the option was still missing. I’m currently using 2025.2.1

By the way the official AppImage doesn’t work either

@Joshua26Brown are you still facing this issue?
