I’ve been a fan of Bitwarden as it’s open source, and since my employer started to use it years ago. I also have a personal Bitwarden account for my private passwords, and think about upgrading it to Premium or Family.
On the other hand, I maintain an open source project with some folks. I sometimes wanted to share some passwords and secrets securely with other project members, such as Maven Central, RubyGems.org, PGP keys, and else…
The Bitwarden Teams plan is needed to share passwords and secrets with members. It’s a blocker for me. Once the open source projects depends on payment, the project would not be very sustainable. (What if I forgot to update the credit card information before expiration, or I could not keep going on it?)
Doesn’t the Bitwarden team have any plan to provide a free plan of “Bitwarden Teams for Open Source Projects”? It would help many open source projects so much even though the number of team members and the number of shared passwords are much limited. Only the “sharing some passwords” feature is much wanted.
1Password provides that.
I am thinking about 1Password only because of this. (It also means I would migrate my private password manager because using multiple password managers would be annoying.)
