Hi, I have Bitwarden Premium and enjoy the input of the OTP code with a simple paste (Ctrl+V) thanks to the BW Premium feature “integrated authenticator”.
Is this feature only available on the desktop web browser?
or it is available on Android as well?
PS: I insert some edits, as I first misunderstood the OP.
No, it should be available on every client, therefore also on Android.
TOTP copying is possible with the browser extensions and the mobile apps.
I’m not sure, what you mean by that, but if you open the Bitwarden mobile app and open a vault item (only login type!), then “edit” - there should be something like “add TOTP”.
There you should be able to either manually enter the seed code / secret key (or copy it in via the clipboard?) - or to scan a QR code for that.
I have already automatically entered the seed code/secret key on a number of my BW login items. This works perfectly on my desktop pc with Chrome browser thanks to BW addon.
But on Android with BW for Android app, the OTP never gets automatically filled up. How is it suppose to work?
Here is a concrete example: entering login and password works
Thank you, I have activated this option and even rebooted my phone. I don’t know why thought it was set once for all devices, which does not make sense for security reasons.
Now when I choose the BW entry I want for the login, I can see the OTP code is being copied in the clipboard, I can choose the login perfectly but then it is not proposing me to enter the password but the OTP code that is in the clipboard. :
I’m not familiar with “Zoho”… I would guess, that website has an unfortunate implementation. For me it works most of the time as expected… - Did you try other websites with the same result?
Yes, if I (example) fill in username and password (mobile app!) for this forum from Bitwarden, the TOTP code is automatically copied into the clipboard, as you can see here:
In my case, it should stay in the clipboard for 20 seconds (Settings → Others → “Clear Clipboard” (or something like that)…) and in the next step I can tip in the TOTP field, choose “fill in” and the code get’s filled in.
This feature is available in Bitwarden’s browser extensions for various browsers, as well as in the mobile apps.
However, please note that using the Bitwarden extension in browsers running on Android is not supported. It doesn’t seem like that is what you are attempting to do, though.
I have tested with this BW community website, and you’re right it works perfectly with the TOTP from BW for Android.
It is the Zoho.com website and the other one at work that have something wrong in there design.
