Bitwarden locking Secure Input on Mac

When minimized and locked, and Touch ID is not available, Bitwarden locks Secure Input, preventing other utilities that read keyboard input (Keyboard Maestro, in this case) from working.

On a MacBook, with Touch ID available, this does not happen. The PIN or password input field is locking secure input even when the app is minimized. This is a new problem with a recent update.

I can confirm this is happening with macOs Sequoa.
I discovered that bitwarden app causes secure input to be activated, which also prevents applications like logioptions from functioning.

Thanks for sharing the report @orc4hire, if you haven’t already, can you share these details with our support team here: Help Center | Bitwarden

seems to be the same issue from 2019 - macOS Vault Master Password Entry Holds Secure Keyboard Input Open · Issue #298 · bitwarden/desktop · GitHub

Confirming behavior.

I start Bitwarden, login, and use and forget about it for some number of minutes. Eventually, Keyboard Maestro or a text expander stop working. And when I go back to Bitwarden, I see the cursor is in the password field (on BW vault login screen).

It may be that preventing the cursor from returning to the password field, or overlaying some elegant “click to enter password” button over the field and deactivating it, may resolve this behavior.

System & Settings:

macOS Sequoia 15.7.3, Bitwarden Version 2025.12.0

Vault Timeout is set to On System Idle and Timeout Action is set to Lock. Unlock with PIN and Unlock with Touch ID are disabled.

I believe this was fixed actually and perhaps before I posted
