Bitwarden Firefox Extension Using ~2GB RAM on LibreWolf

I am using Bitwarden (cloud-hosted) with the Bitwarden browser extension in LibreWolf (Firefox-based).

Since the frontend redesign some time ago. I have noticed that the extension appears to consume a significant amount of RAM and has become noticeably slower, for example when auto-completing passwords.

When inspecting about:memory, I found that the Bitwarden is using approximately 2.2 GB of RAM:

2,193,526,688 B (82.75%) – top(moz-extension://304e98ed-de0b-4e33-8da8-fa78a86eb6ec/background.html)

Is this expected behavior with the current extension or is this a memory leak from recent updates?

Is there anything I can do as a user to mitigate this (e.g., configuration changes, clearing cache, disabling features) or is this something that needs to be addressed in the extension itself?

When inspecting mine, it was using around 400mb of RAM. Still an insane amount of RAM for a password manager.

@Albert-LGTM @MrNeptune44 Welcome to the forum!

And there is an open bug report about that:

Best thing would be, if you added your details there as well. (bug reports are “processed” on GitHub…)
