Bitwarden Extension stopped pasting password in Firefox

Using Firefox and the latest extension (24.2.0 I think) bitwarden shows it’s icon in the userfield for username with a dropdown of the correct username, but when I click next, it will not offer the password. I cannot use auto fill. I have to manually copy and paste and I didn’t used to have to do this. Any idea what might have changed or how I can get Bitwarden to work again?

First of all, what website is this problem occurring on? I have not been able to reproduce any behavior like what you’ve described on the sites where I’ve tested this.

Second, if you want to get rid of the icon & dropdown in the username field and revert to Bitwraden’s old behavior, open :gear: Settings, click on Auto-fill, and change the value of the “Show Auto-Fill menu on Form Fields” dropdown menu from “When Auot-Fill icon is Selected” to just “Off”.

I ran across it on another secure log in site too but off hand don’t recall. Outdated Browser · Tinker Federal Credit Union is the one most often used. I thought the icon and dropdown would be nice to use but not if I have to copy and paste the password anyway. I’ll turn it off. Thanks! I just tried to change the setting and can’t. Emptied cache, cleared data and refreshed, still see the dropdown.

Don’t know where the “outdated browser” is coming from, it’s not. Latest Firefox.

On that site, I am able to reproduce the failed password auto-fill when the “Show Auto-Fill menu on Form Fields” option is enabled, but after setting “Show Auto-Fill menu on Form Fields” to “Off”, I can again auto-fill username and password without problem using Ctrl+Shift+L.

Just hit this with the Apple website using the store. Had to completely turn off auto fill as it seem to have messed with the fields on the page so much that I couldn’t even type in them.

I’ve been seeing this pretty regularly with other sites, and it is quite frustrating. Will post other sites back here as I come across them.

@flcdrg Welcome to the forum!

The “inline auto-fill menu” feature (dropdown menu displayed inside username/password fields on a website) works by injecting code into the webpage. This sometimes/often causes problems with the functioning of the website, which is why Bitwarden was reluctant to implement such a feature. Nonetheless, there was persistent user demand for inline auto-fill menus to be implemented, so this feature was finally added in December 2023. And here we are.

My suggestion is to go to Settings > Auto-fill, and set the “Show Auto-Fill menu on Form Fields” option to “Off”. Then you should be able to do auto-fill as before, using Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+L.

Instead of posting such issues here, please use Bitwarden’s official form for reporting autofill failures:
