Hey there
participating in the Bitwarden beta for Android. Noticed 2 items:
-
The app at times stops showing records and must be closed and then reopened.
-
passkey registration or access isn’t always available. Sometimes, the OS doesn’t acknowledge that bitwarden is my default auto-fill manager even though I’ve disabled builtin Google password manager.
Thanks,
Bash
Just checking - on your 2nd point, have you also verified that you have password management turned off on your web browser, so that it can’t conflict?
Is there anything I can reference to make sure that’s disabled ?
If you’re referring to the flags in chrome based browsers, I have the following set up based on the bitwarden android beta article:
- Temporarily unexpire M124 flags: Enabled
- Android Credential Management for passkeys: Enable for 3rd party passkey providers.
Thank you
I mean in your browser, whatever you are using on your phone, be sure that “Remember passwords” or “Autofill paswords” (or similarly-named options, depending on browser) are set to OFF.
In other words, don’t have the browser store any passwords. If you do have any of them stored in the browser, it may be trying to autofill itself.
@Bash_Man Hi!
Regarding passkeys: are you talking about this beta: Release 2024.7.0-beta (18845) · bitwarden/android · GitHub ?
I’m not sure it contains passkey support at this point (not mentioned in the changelog) - and I guess the beta is still in phase 1, as described here: Bitwarden releases phased beta for native mobile apps | Bitwarden Blog and which would again mean: not yet passkey support.
Thank you. Yes it is the beta. I guess passkeys is phase 2.
