Bitwarden-app on Linux has high CPU utilization

On Linux, Ubuntu and Mint, bitwarden-app has constant high CPU utilization of 35-42% at rest. I hope this is not normal since it slows down my machine. Why is it even doing anything if it just sits there and not being actively used.

Linux Mint 22.2 Zara

Bitwarden 2025.12.0 installed from flatpak:

Name Application ID Version Branch Installation
Bitwarden com.bitwarden.desktop 2025.12.0 stable system

I can confirm I had the same issue on latest Bazzite version and Gentoo. Maybe try updating to 2025.12.1? I think that this version is now using less CPU than 2025.12.0. I think I was at 10% before on my machine and now I am at 1%. Unfortunately I didn’t write down the CPU usage with the previous version so hard to tell/remember.

I am on 2025.12.1 and it is still showing between 25-45% CPU utilization.

To both of you (@the1avi and @salomander_rake) best thing would be to report those kind of issues on GitHub, as bugs are to be reported on GitHub. – There is a comment in an issue that lists some open (and closed) GitHub issues that might be about the same thing you experience: Severe input lag (typing delay) in Firefox on Linux with Intel Graphics · Issue #18187 · bitwarden/clients · GitHub

If one of those open and existing GitHub issues matches, you can add your details there. – If nothing matches, open a new issue there.
