Bitwarden and MS Edge

Hi,
Asking the collective wisdom of this community. I’m a newbie user of Bitwarden and several questions below.
I have emailed Bitwarden Tech Support and they cannot recover my account or reset master password. Is there a possibility that MS Edge can erase master PW from Bitwarden? I didn’t think it would be possible with a cloud based password vault. I had this same problem with a client PW vault system when moving to Edge and luckily I had a backup. I used Chrome for years for the client system and never had a problem. However, now, Bitwarden is not recognizing master password. Or maybe I’ve forgotten it despite having it saved in a safe place and using it several times until the last few weeks, when it became ‘unrecognized’. I was finally able to get in to desktop login with fingerprint phrase approval on my phone. Then I got a new phone and can now only get in via pin on new phone. If there is the possibility of Edge erasing it, can I stop this from happening again in Edge by changing settings (after creating a new Bitwarden account)? Could the original master password be saved somewhere in some files on my laptop? I’m very hesitant about using Bitwarden with Edge.
Lastly, when I was able to get in with fingerprint phrase (before I got new phone), I tried to do a json import to an external drive. I got an error message about MS Bitdefender thinking it was fraudulent and wouldn’t allow import. Has anyone received this error before and how did fix to do import?
I didn’t have alot in my Bitwarden and have resigned to the fact I’ll have to make a new account. I know about emergency access option and other authentications once logged in.
Thank you!

If you’re asking about exporting (not “importing”), then yes, there were reports about this problem recently. As explained in this thread, the solution is to upgrade your Edge browser to the latest version, in which case the false-positive warning can be overriden by clicking the download icon and selecting the option to keep the blocked download. If you’re unable to upgrade the browser, or if there is a risk that doing so will log you out of the browser extension, then you can instead using the following work-around: in the Edge settings, configure the downloads settings so that you specify where each downloaded file should be saved to; then, when exporting your vault, while Edge is waiting for you to specify the file location, use Windows Explorer to open your Downloads folder and copy the just created temporary file to a different location (and renaming it to have a .json extension).

With regards to your broader question, no, it is not possible for Edge to change or delete your Bitwarden master password.

Some other possible explanations are that you are misremembering or mistyping your master password or email address, or that you are trying to log in to the wrong server (bitwarden.eu vs. bitwarden.com).

Thank you for your reply and explanation, very helpful. I’ll try your suggestions.
