Since the Bitwarden Extensions updated tonight for both Firefox and Brave Bio-metrics has stopped working. On the Desktop Version and Safari still work but they have not been updated yet. I have a Macbook Air M2 15 inch with Macos 15. Everything has been working great till the update tonight.

The recent update to the Bitwarden extensions for Firefox and Brave has caused biometric authentication to stop working, while the desktop version and Safari remain unaffected. If you’re using a MacBook Air M2 with macOS 15, try restarting the Bitwarden desktop app, reinstalling the browser extensions, or checking permissions. If the issue persists, wait for a fix from Bitwarden or consider downgrading to a previous extension version.

macOS browser Biometric unlocks are broken again as of 25th September - Firefox is the one I’ve tested in.

This is quite infuriating.
There seems to be an incompatibility between the latests browser extensions (2024.9.x) and the “older” desktop app ( < 2024.9.x). I guess on Mac you have to wait for the update to the desktop app version 2024.9.x and/or use other unlock methods until then. Came here to search for the same issue. There was an update on the Mac App Store that seems to solve the problem.

I have having the same experience (again!) w/ an updated Chrome browser on updated MacOS on an M1. I have to say, Bitwarden should be checking a Top 10 usability list every time before rolling out an update and if it doesn’t pass, it just shouldn’t release it. It undermines confidence in the stewardship of Bitwarden products which we depend on for rock solid security of highly confidential information. I have moved back to a PIN again after the last time it broke, to prevent having to type in my master password every single time I want to access a password.
