Automatically open keyboard when the PIN entry screen is opened (Android)

When unlocking the app on the PIN entry page, an extra click is needed to open the keyboard.
Requesting that the keyboard be automatically opened on this page to save an extra click.
Thanks!

This might be considered trivial but those extra “clicks” can tug on a nerve. When we have a password entry Bitwarden is locked, click on the notification, click on the entry space to bring up the keypad, then type in the number, then click Unlock. That keypad automatically popping up and focus on the entry box would be much more efficient.

I agree. It doesn’t make sense to touch the password/PIN field just to display the keyboard. We are supposed to introduce a password/PIN to access vault, so the keyboard should be displayed by default.

When manually opening up the Bitwarden app, the numeric keyboard is auto opened to enter your pin.

However, when in another app/browser, the keyboard is /not/ auto opened when the app needs to be unlocked.

Having the numeric keyboard auto-open in all scenarios would keep the behavior consistent. Please do add this feature request.

I agree, its a small but irritating thing that shouldnt exist.

I swear one time the same day after i had installed bitwarden that the keypad opened automatically but it hasnt happened since.

Just wanted to chime in and state that I found this feature request because I searched for this exact topic because I find it very annoying.

I also wanted to confirm that the default behavior on opening the app manually is not to display the keyboard for pin entry for me. Whether it is launched directly or via a browser login scenario the default behavior is for a tap on the pin entry field to bring up the keyboard.

Let’s get this fixed please!

Keeping this train going. It really does slow you down to do all the extra clicks. I am trying to to keep my vault secure and not enable the “never” lock option. Sometimes it requires 2 hands to just get the password entered and that is no fun.

Agreed. The extra click is unnecessary, and doesn’t increase security, so why have it?

I agree; PIN unlock is particularly useful for defense in depth. If I use fingerprint unlock for the phone itself I don’t want the same for Bitwarden, since if an attacker can bypass my fingerprint on the phone lockscreen then they can do it in Bitwarden too. The extra tap to get the keypad in Bitwarden is a disincentive to use PIN unlock and thus reduces security.
