In the field “server” the value “bitwarden.com” appears automatically
Suggestion:
The server localizes automatically, that a device/browser sends the request for a login from the EU.
In the field “server” the value “bitwarden.eu” appears automatically.
The URI will automatically be:
https://vault.bitwarden.eu/#/login
Reason:
It is very easy to oversee the field server on the login page. A user starts to enter his login data but - of course - he will get an error message, because the wrong server was choosed.
This effect is amplified because the field server is small and at the bottom of the login page. Yet it is an essential part of the login. In fact, it is the first of 3 parts:
server, mail address, password
I suggest to place it directly above the field “mail address”
I would be glad to read comments on my suggestion : )
We are working on some enhancements to make the server selector more visible.
It’s worth remembering that the bitwarden.eu environment is relatively new. As a result, there are many users in the EU who have already created their accounts on bitwarden.com. I think it would be frustrating for these users if the environment defaulted to the bitwarden.eu domain, since this is not where their account is registered.
Your point is valid, but I have a related suggestion/recommendation:
If a user navigates to https://bitwarden.eu, then they are automatically redirected to bitwarden.com (which is not a problem). However, if that user now clicks the “Login” link, I think that they would rightfully expect to be taken to https://vault.bitwarden.eu/#/login — currently, they are not. Thus, I think that perhaps some state should be set when loading bitwarden.eu, and this information used to decide which server to redirect to when later clicking “Login” from the bitwarden.com site.
Furthermore (albeit only tangentially related to this feature request), it would be helpful if the text of the error message is modified to better inform users who may be trying to use the wrong server, as I’ve suggested on another feature request:
Hi Micah.
Thanks for the information. I can well understand that if the many users from the EU who are registered with com are not to be disadvantaged.
It’s great that work is being done to improve the visibility of the server information.
