Hi all!!
When using Firefox with the BW browser extension and Gmail, the auto fill pops-up when I click in the search bar inside Gmail. Should this happen, and if so, is there a way to disable this behavior, without disabling auto fill entirely?
Thank you!
Are you sure that’s Bitwarden showing those items? It’s not gmail itself doing that as you begin to type something to search for?
The blue icon to the right (on the dropdown/inline menu) looks like the Bitwarden symbol in this menu…
@Jean_Paul_Cousseau Welcome to the forum!
I guess there is no answer like “you can deactivate the inline menu for a certain field on a site”.
You can close the inline menu manually by pressing Esc
.
You could deactivate showing the menu automatically: Settings → Autofill → Display suggestions when icon is selected
There should come a function, to block autofill for certain sites/domains: Blocking Autofill | Bitwarden - it is announced in the Release Notes 2025.1.2, but I don’t see that function in my browser extensions 2025.1.3 yet… and it seems, you can “only” block autofill entirely for a domain then…
If autofill doesn’t work on a site as intended, there is also always the “bug report” for autofill issues for the browser extensions (and for the mobile apps).
Hello,
You can close the inline menu manually by pressing Esc
.
Yes, but by pressing ESC I loose focus on the search bar, and have to click it again to type, and the BW autofill shows up again, so no solution there.
You could deactivate showing the menu automatically: Settings → Autofill → Display suggestions when icon is selected
That’s the solution I’m using right now, it’s fine, but I also like the Autofill to show up automatically in other sites, and in this way I loose that, but it’s not a deal breaker.
What I found curious is that I have two gmail accounts, one @gmail.com and the other is my business account that uses @mydomain.com. And the Autofill only shows up in my business account.
Maybe BW is using some attribute that is different in these accounts and is messing up the decision to show the Autofill or not. In my opinion this is a bug, do you guys agree? If so, how can we open a report?
Thanks
