The browser extension should show the unlock screen when the auto-fill key combination is pressed and the extension is locked. This will make the extension easier to use, for those like me who lock it multiple times a day.
Currently, when the auto-fill shortcut is pressed and the extension is locked, nothing happens.
Agree!!! Would certainly be convenient. Or if easier to implement, maybe auto prompt for unlock when open browser (I set the lock action when close browser…)
Open Bitwarden Login Prompt on Shortcut Key when not Logged In/App locked
Feature function
Currently, if I press (on Windows) ctrl+shift+L to auto enter login details, if I’m not logged into the Bitwarden Extension, or, if the Bitwarden Extension is locked, nothing happens. I propose that if the Bitwarden app is not logged in, or it is locked, pressing the autofill shortcut key will instead open the Bitwarden app so I can log in. The benefit of this is I would be able to log in to Bitwarden without my hands leaving the keyboard.
Currently when vault is locked in the browser and user logs in to new service, there will be no prompt to save new password. As it was discussed in this issue, it is not possible to detect if user already has this service saved in the vault.
I’m using Enpass. I think it solves this issue better, by prompting user to login with pin or master password. Then if user unlocks it, Enpass detects, if credentials provided for this site are new, updated or the same as in the vault. When first two options are detected, user is prompted, if they want to save/update these credentials.
I think it is better solution as it allows user to have vault locked most of the time (e.g. with option “immediately”), but still be prompted.

Hi! When trying to paste credentials with right click in chrome, the addon should automatically ask me for my password to unlock. i always forget its still locked and then have to stop the right click, click the button of the addon, enter the password and then reenter the credentials
is there any other way to do this btw?
I use the hotkey extensively.
A lot if times the extension is in locked mode due to infrequent activity or browser restarts.
At these times the hotkey doesn’t do anything, and I have to reach the extension icon with my mouse like an animal
It would be great if the hotkey would open the extension window preferable already focused on the master password input so I can continue using my keyboard like a civilized person.
Sorry if this has already been discussed, I couldn’t find it, but I’d love if the login form was automatically opened and focused when I press the auto-fill in the browser. No nothing happens if the vault is locked.
The perfect scenario to me is if I enter the master password and when the vault is unlocked then the original login form is also automatically auto-filled.
Sorry, I wasn’t very clear. But what I mean is that if I visit a page for which I have an account, but the vault is locked, then autofill doesn’t work, obviously. Not the autofill on page load, nor the autofill from hotkey. But it would be great if the Bitwarden login form was displayed instead so I could just unlock the vault. And THEN trigger the autofill if unlock was successfull.
So to summarize, if I press the autofill hotkey when the vault is locked, show the Bitwarden login so I can unlock it. And then autofill the page.
+1. Without a master password reprompt for selective sites, I’ve had to resort to a very aggressive locking timer. To have to click on the extension icon each time (rather than just using the hotkey) when the vault is locked is fairly cumbersome
when the browser extension is locked, it doesn’t open the pop-up to unlock it when using the autofill key. This is a bit annoying, especially as I’m coming from 1Password, which does exactly that.
My suggestion is to add that.
I hope this isn’t a duplicate, as I’ve looked a bit around to find any.
I came from 1Password. There is only 1 keyboard shortcut for filling in the credentials. And if the extension is locked pressing the shortcut brings up a login window for the extension.
Actually I press STRG + SHIFT + L to recognize that the extension is locked. So I have to press STRG + SHIFT + Y to unlock the extension. Now I’m able to fill in the credentials.
It doesn’t matter if PIN or Master Password. Actually you have to use at least a shortcut to unlock the extension and put in the credentials with a mouseclick in the extension popup or you have to use a shortcut to bring up the unlock screen and another shortcut to fill in the credentials.
I think that using only one shortcut should be enough. If you press the shortcut and the extension is locked the logon screen from the extension should appear. And if the extension isn’t locked the same shortcut could be used to fill in the credentials.
