Autofill on android apps question

I just recently got a new android phone, a moto g stylus 2025 running android 15. I have never used bitwarden on a phone at all. I am more of a windows guy. I was going to use it on new phone but I got thinking about something, well a couple of things.

First, from my understand, on phone bitwarden can autofill credentials on apps. If this can be done on android or iphone, why can’t bitwarden autofill credentials on windows programs or applications? I realize android and windows are two totally different animals but is it that much harder to do on windows vs phones?

Second, I do use my phone but not a big phone user, what I got maybe overkill for what I do. Probably main use is facebook and that is only for a page I manage and selling stuff on marketplace, some grocery apps, occasionally listen to iheartradio, taking pics, few different gmail accounts added and of course, actually talking and texting. Anyways, on the apps I use, once I login to them for the first time, they typically stay logged in. Are there lots of apps that you have to sign in to everytime you use them? Or is bitwarden more used for logging into sites through web browser instead of app?

I think Android provides support for autofilling the app, which Windows didn’t (or doesn’t). All the Windows password managers that provide app “autofilling” do it by keyboard emulation. There is a feature on the roadmap, which seems release-imminent:

My Android apps mostly require login only once as well; after that, they are all probably token-based or actually keep the credentials in the Android credential manager itself. The exception is when you need to reinstall the app or if there is an update hiccup. With Android’s security model, I don’t feel the need to log out from my apps, so I end up using Android BW for other conveniences like keeping passwords for other people, storing passwords that I have to type in, approving “Login by device,” and secure notes.

I believe some people keep their important apps (like finances) logged out and constantly need BW to log in.
