Autofill fails, no Fill button

AutoFill not working and Fill button not displayed. Been like this for a few days now.

Windows 11 desktop with Chrome browser (also tested with Edge), Bw extension in Chrome version 2026.2.0.

Workaround: turn off and on the Bitwarden extension to make the Fill button appear. But only works once (so not a useful workaround). But does not fix for auto-fill not working on page load.

My settings:

Show autofill suggestions on form fields OFF (not relevant and not desired. Tried ON but no difference);

Make Bitwarden default psw manager ON;

Autofill on page load ON;

Show context menu options ON;

Blocked domains : I have none listed

Example (Zapier.com): https://zapier.com/app/login

Website 1 (as above - to load the login page) https://zapier.com/app/login Default (Base domain). Stop/start Bw extension “workaround” in Chrome proves the URL is correct.

Website 2 https://zapier.com Default (Base domain) - no really necessary but in case the subsequent password page ever has different name in future.

Autofill on page load YES

Custom field login-email not required as Fill button appears after “workaround” de-activation and re-activating of Bw extension in Chrome, proving Bw recognises the username field name.

OK, I’ve tried to test this. Here is the setup of my vault login item:

However, if I navigate to the Zapier login form and open the browser extension, I do see the Fill button, as shown in the screenshot below:

Thus, I cannot reproduce what you are experiencing with the missing Fill button. If you want further assistance with this, please describe the exact steps are you taking to open the Zapier login form in your browser, and to open the browser extension window.

I was able to reproduce the failure of “Autofill on Page Load” on this site. However, you can fix this by defining a custom field, with the Field Type set to “Linked”, the Field Label set to login-email, and the field value set to Username:

After defining this linked custom field and saving the vault item, at least the email input field does automatically autofill when the login page loads. I don’t have a Zapier account, so I cannot test the password input field.

@Steve1961 Autofill issues with specific sites can also always be reported to BW via those Google forms:

THANKS. As you say, Auto-fill works with Custom Field Name. I would have thought ‘login-email’ was a common enough label that Bw should work. But perhaps I need to report it as a Custom Field should not be necessary.
