Any reports of Bitwarden causing Yahoo login failure?

Here we go again. I promise I’m not trying to be a pest.

This also happened a few years ago. I don’t use Yahoo mail much, but I have no problems on Chrome or android. I decided to try it today. When BW is enabled, variations of this appear.

When I ran in Firefox in troubleshooting mode, Yahoo login was not interfered with.

In regular mode, I disabled addons in a trial and error. It only happens when BW is enabled. I also tested it when copying and pasting from another source, but as long as BW was enabled, it failed.

One time, when I tested it directly after testing with BW disabled, I logged in and out, and then enabled BW and then tested the login, it worked.

However, after rebooting the browser, tried again, and the error message returned

I was able to successfully login to https://login.yahoo.com/ , but to get autofill to work, it is necessary to create this custom field:

Windows 11, Firefox 147.0, Bitwarden Extension 2025.12.1.

I am also able to login to yahoo with firefox using a passkey stored in Bitwarden but since they apparently don’t support discoverable credentials, I did need to first fill in my username.

@bituser In general, autofill issues on specific sites can (and should) always be reported via those Google forms:

(those forms are also linked in the forum – just click “Report a bug or issue” in the sidebar menu on the left)

PS: I linked both forms to make it “comprehensive” – and so that future readers don’t have to search for it if they needed “the other” form.

@bituser I can second the above statement. I have no problems logging in to Yahoo on Chrome. I use Incognito mode with only two extensions enabled (Bitwarden and GPC Enabler), and I autofill with the keyboard shortcut.

Where is that?

This problem only occurs in Firefox. I just tested with a fresh profile. Only some about:config adjustments, and the session from the old profile.

It worked normally most of the of the time. I definitely believe this is a Yahoo problem. but Firefox may be just as responsible, given that it doesn’t occur elsewhere. Every so often I have a problem on other sites in Firefox that don’t show up on other devices.

It definitely occurs more with BW enabled, but my impression that BW is just doing it’s job, I get other errors with BW disabled, i.e. a “Web Seve Error” yesterday, in safe mode. If I discover any other relevant info, I will report back

Thanks to everyone for your help.

When you edit the vault entry scroll down, way down.

What am I missing?? I don’t see this anywhere

I have this

None of this

From your picture (but do this to the vault entry for https://login.yahoo.com), select the three dot icon

and select edit

scroll all the way to the bottom, with the scroll bar

click add field

set the field type to “linked”, and type login-username in the field label. Click add.

Validate that the field is linked to “username” and click save.

I hope someone please attends to the links that do not work in those “suggestions” that pop up when you start a thread, cuz @DenBesten detailed response\guidance, which was crucial to a layman’s understanding, should be in a prominent place.

I’m crossing my fingers and tentatively declaring thanks to everyone, particularly DenBesten.

I made the custom fields alterations for both Yahoo accounts, and, at least, for the moment, it appears that both accounts are behaving as you would expect. Clean, immediate logins.

Isn’t it ironic how simple some solutions can seem to be once you figure them out? But in this case, not so much. I’m still not sure how/why that was needed, why it fixed things, and how you figured it out.
