Hello, I’m a poor guy and I want to try Bitwarden Premium. I don’t have $10, so I’ve been adding small amounts through my PayPal — like $0.52, $0.15, $0.50, etc. So far, I’ve added a total of $3.70, and I still need $6.30 more. I plan to add the rest soon so I can try the Premium version.
My question is: after I pay $10 for one year, what happens when my subscription ends after that year? Will I be unable to add new passwords or something else?
Also, is it okay if I keep adding funds this way? I asked Bitwarden if they offer a student discount, but they said they don’t. That’s why I’m adding funds little by little — I just want to make sure there’s no problem with that
You will just lose access to some of the Premium features, as described in the documentation:
If you’re using an Premium 2FA method to log in to your Bitwarden account (i.e., Duo or Yubico OTP), then those methods will be deactivated when your Premium subscription lapses.
If you have stored any TOTP authenticator keys for generating TOTP codes with the integrated TOTP authenticator (a Premium feature), then the secret keys will remain stored in your account after your Premium subscription lapses, but you will no longer be able to generate any TOTP codes using the integrated authenticator.
If you have uploaded any files as attachment to your vault items, then those files will remain stored in your account after your Premium subscription lapses, but you will be unable to access the files.
If you have configured Emergency Access (a Premium feature), then the previously configured emergency access will continue to work after your Premium subscription lapses, but you will not be able to edit the configuration or add new emergency access contacts.
I assume that you are purchasing “Account Credit” (by clicking Add Credit under Settings > Subscription > Payment Details > Account Credit). That would be the correct method to do this. When your Account Credit balance has reached $10.00 USD, you will be able to use the Account Credit to purchase a 1-year Premium subscription (by selecting the “Account Credit” option under Settings > Subscription > Subscription > Payment Information).
