12 hr Power readout on macOS Activity Monitor

After first noticing Bitwarden’s power consumption some time ago, I’ve been monitoring readouts given by Activity Monitor on macOS.

Relative to other apps which I keep running all day and which I expect to be bigger power consumers, Bitwarden surprisingly comes out on top. By far.

Below for example is today’s. This reading is not atypical.

During the course of a day, the two other apps which I use most come in at a fraction of Bitwarden’s consumption. One of those two is Firefox, and I typically expect browser power draws to be the biggest. And yet Firefox consumes under 30% of what Bitwarden does.

Curious what other folks get?

The hardware acceleration setting doesn’t have much of an effect.

@Nail1684 Thank you for surfacing the related bug report!

Given the screenshots shared on there, I might count myself lucky it’s not worse

A recent update has resolved the strangely high power consumption. Haven’t gone in to the check the version, but I can say offhand it seems related to the recent significant UI change.

Consumption reads as low as other apps that are barely active.
