Being able to view an attachment IS a core feature. If it wasn’t, it wouldn’t be requested 281 times in this thread alone.
The bare minimum is okay, but that needs to include images also. Or it’s useless.

There is a HUGE difference between being able to view attachments (something 90%+ of pw managers offer), and being a “document management service”.
Dear Bitwarden,
Please consider this feature and it will be a great feature for us users.. I’m willing to increase my subscription fee for this..
Hoping for your kind attention about this matter.

Hey all, I put together a PR to fix this in the Android app. You can check out a video of the feature here. Feedback is appreciated!
It only handles image previews for now, but it’s a start.
Not sure how long it might take to get a review (or if it’ll be considered), but it’s out there now, feel free to push it forward if you think it’s useful.
Hi there, and thanks! Feel free to drop a proposal for discussion in the Github Discussions area here: bitwarden · Discussions · GitHub

Thanks I was looking to contribute the same feature but looks like you already have raised a PR.
Oh nice! Now let’s just wait the traditional 9-12 business months for it to get merged ![]()
This is awesome ! But we need it on iOS too ![]()
Still waiting for this to be added to iOS, MacOs and browser versions.
It’s really important to me!
why take so long time
I literally just subscribed to the Premium membership 10 mins ago for this file attachment feature and to show support.
Only to find that this feature is so poorly implemented in iOS. Then I googled it and landed on this forum.
The current implementation (download and then delete it) is against all principles of security and the whole idea of protected vaults.
Frankly I will not continue my subscription if this basic feature is not done properly.
FYI, you can get a refund if you contact customer support about canceling your Premium subscription within 30 days.
Thanks @grb
What I meant is I don’t mind this first subscription to show my support (but I won’t renew). Bitwarden has been otherwise awesome so far.
I was disappointed on the only premium feature I cared about. And the amount of posts on this topic shows a lot of fellow users have the same concern.
I hope we can get some attention from the developers to make an “in-app viewer” for secure documents on iOS.
They did an excellent job in supporting the latest liquid-glass UI though. The UI has a big uplift since a year ago or so. I was impressed and decided to move to Bitwarden as my primary storage, and then… hit a wall.
A post was merged into an existing topic: Bitwarden launches enhanced premium plan
This should be a priority, attachments right now are pretty much useless. You can’t view them, you can’t send them. Having to download them all the time is not secure, they’re in the vault for a reason.
I agree — without a better UI for securely view and/or working with attachments, the extra 5 GB of storage space in the new Premium plan adds little to no tangible value for users.
Hi there,
I’m a new user and coming from 1Password. Overall I generally like the open source aspect and many things around Bitwarden.
But some things are very annoying. Especially the missing feature of not being able to view attachments (mobile and desktop) without downloading them.
Is this something actively worked on, or won’t we see this feature in near future?
