This is the feature I want most

Don’t understand why this is not implemented yet.

So nobody cares about such feature?

I’m not sure how 468 votes could mean that “nobody cares about such feature” - and “why is this not implemented yet” is a bit hard to answer, as probably no one of us users (this is a community forum) knows the answer to that.

Yeah, but I assume that not only users uses this forum, but also developers. So my comment about “nobody cares” was more to developers if they were unable to create it for 7 years.

Developers show up in the community only on a rare basis.

Caring is pretty much unrelated to a feature request becoming a development priority.

I’m not sure if that is the right way to approach “the developers” either…

First it wouldn’t be the developers scanning here, it would most likely be the project managers looking to see what next item they could tackle based on demand, priority, internal plans/commitments etc.

Listen the overlay feature request is a prime example of where one day the stance was no we’re not doing this and it’s due to security and that thread had a lot of posts and went on for a long time. BW finally kicked up the traction with that and figured out a way to safely implement that and it’s been implemented.

I’m sure eventually the same would go for this feature too (at least I hope at some point).

Read the thread. This has been discussed.

You really expect someone to read 247 comments on a post?

No, but is it too much to ask for them to read just two comments that were posted immediately above their own comment?

Oh lol. I figured it was some were buried in the 247 comments.

But fair point.

Read the thread vs read the 2nd post prior to, I’m sure can be interpreted many different ways.

I’ve read all comments, but I still dont understant what is the problem to implement previews just for images??

So as nobody answers I understand that this won’t ever happen?

This is a very important security feature as having to download an attachment to the local machine defeats a lot of the value of a password manager. Some risks are local (vs. cloud), so downloading sensitive files can be risky. For common file formats, I shouldn’t have to copy a file outside of BW in order to view it.

I’d like to be view these file types inside BW on all apps and the web UI:
TXT, PDF, RTF, DOCX, JPG, PNG

100%, the lack of an important feature like this totally defeats the purpose of having attachments.
One of the best use cases of the ability to view TXT, PDF, RTF, DOCX, JPG, PNG and other common formats would be that people can upload the important files from a secure device, and view the files on other devices, without having to worry about properly deleting the files (when they need to be downloaded locally in the current implementation)

Okay, 7 years since this thread started and this still seems to be a thing..

I don´t even care that much about PDF, docx etc,
I just wish i could take a picture of i.e. a membership card on my phone and view it in the Bitwarden app…seems like it would be a simple thing.
