I am currently scoping the setup of Bitwarden for an organization, but we have some unique requirements that I don’t quite know how to address, specifically around shared computers.
We have several shared computers, that staff use and are accessed using a shared windows account. Whilst logged into these shared accounts, both individual and shared types of credentials are used. For example, a person may need the browser to login to an account that requires their individual credentials, whereas a desktop application might use a shared credential.
So far, I’ve determined that likely the desktop and extension aren’t appropriate to enable simple account switching for several users, so we’d be limited to the web vault. However, based on design, this doesn’t time out quickly and the risk is that we can’t rely on users to close the tabs when finished before another user may come across to use the computer. We aren’t interested in changing the way these computers are setup at this stage, i.e. shared.
I understand that Bitwarden is intended for each individual to have their own account, so I think it is best to keep that approach. The staff using this type of computer may not be IT savvy, so I’d also like to try and minimize the need for them to frequently enter their master password, so “Log in with Device” could be useful.
I am interested to hear if anyone else has encountered this scenario and what you did to work around it?
Thanks!
