The chrome plugin is just so hard to use

In addition to the potential ongoing credential-not-saved bugs, the auto-save/auto-update features have never been completely reliable. Some of us have turned these features off, opting to add or modify entries manually and using autofill to create/update passwords. For example, here are instructions on how to create a new credential:

The safest way to register an account on a new website is: Navigate to the website’s login page. Open the bitwarden extension and click on the “+ New” button. Enter the username/email you would like to use the site. generate a password by clicking on the two-arrow circle icon. Scroll down to notice that the “Website URL” is filled in. Click ok to save the account in Bitwarden. Proceed to the site’s “create an account” page and use auto-fill to populate the username and password. By first crea…

Regarding the reset password form you mentioned, you can follow these steps:

1. Click the Bitwarden extension icon (above).
2. Modify the entry.
3. Click the regenerate password button.
4. Save entry.
5. Press Ctrl-Shift-L to autofill the new password.
6. Click Reset and Login.

While this method or something similar may not be as convenient as auto-update/auto-save, it tends to work reliably in most cases. I suggest you give it a try!
