Putting things in perspective, this thread started in 2018. It’s been almost seven years. After the Lastpass catastrophe, I started testing BW and other products. I liked BW, except sorting was a critical feature for me. Since I had no confidence that BW was going to implement it, I went with a different product and boy am I glad that I did. 393 likes, 300 posts, 554 votes as of this writing, and plenty of lip service, but no feature. Just wow.
I am just in the process of evaluating Bitwarden (using Proton Pass currently), but this is really a bummer. In Pass, I can set the sort order myself (Alphabetical, last changed, created). And especially ‘last changed’ is a lifesaver, because you see all your latest entries (new or changed) at the top.
Please, implement this feature!
RE: The Product Design team is looking into how to better improve table spacing, sorting, and filtering.
Date Password Last Updated.
Date modified could be anything modified, but the age of the password could be used to find passwords that in need of updating.
I love bitwarden and the team! This is such a basic QOL feature that I cannot believe has not been integrated!!! Please incorporate & release it ASAP!
New to bitwarden.. I’m trying to sort out what has and hasn’t be reviewed since importing, being able to sort by date modified would make this so much easier.
Its really sad this feature isn’t implemented yet
After adding a new item, I cannot even find it by searching for it. This is really bad. I have over a hundred items, and I can’t find the one I just added.
Please add some way to sort by date, or show the recently added items on top.
@user83 Welcome to the forum!
You may be affected by an intermittent bug that is apparently affecting some users (see links below). Until the bug is fixed, the only known work-around is to restart the browser.
I’m using the Chrome browser extension btw.
Good to know about the bug. Though it absolutely doesn’t excuse the inability to sort the list in different ways or to find items recently interacted with at the top of list.
How is this not a feature yet after so long, even with the recent UI overhaul?
took me a few minutes to unzip the extension xpi and add an alphabetical sort to the inline menu list. about 10 lines of code. considering how much code has been written for this extension, sorting is probably one of the easiest things a dev can do. chatgpt did it for me actually. i don’t know why i’m paying for an app that can’t sort items, but this is 2025, so i’ve come to accept it
@Chase Welcome to the forum!
Your suggestion seems to be for the Autofill Suggestions that appear in the inline autofill menu. However, this feature request topic is more about the addition of search options to the list of vault contents in the UI of the various Bitwarden apps (Web Vault app, Desktop app, mobile apps, and browser extension Vault tab). Thus, your comment would be more relevant in one of the other feature request topics in the forum, such as this one and this one.
sorting is sorting. i’m just making the point that it’s an extremely simple thing to do. the desktop app looks to be electron, so more or less the same thing as the browser extension, as would be the web vault app. the mobile apps might be native, i don’t know. i can’t imagine the vault tab for the browser extension not being html/javascript, so the sorting would likely be nearly identical to what i did for the autofill. i don’t really care if the topic isn’t exact.
anyways. this thread is MUCH older, and the topic idea is exactly the same. clearly, the bitwarden company just doesn’t want to add sorting, and it has nothing to do with difficultly or lack of desire. if anyone else finally gets fed up with waiting for nothing to happen, feel free to ping me; i would be willing to work on an alternative website/extension/etc
You also can contribute to the existing apps: https://contributing.bitwarden.com/
Wow it’s unbelievable that after all this years Bitwarden does not supports this basic feature. Nearly every other password manager can do basic sorting of entries.
Is this software abandoned or why are basic features requested for years not being implemented?
You can have a look into the Release Notes for that.
I’ve abandoned it because of the lack of actual response other than “we’re looking into it”.
true tbh, its been 7 years
Yep, OP here, hoping to be alive when feature is implemented ![]()
To be honest, it is hard to spot any end user relevant changes there. I see it’s being worked on business features and under the hood improvements, but that’s it.
And that after 7 years even a sorting feature is not implemented is concerning.
Hello, as a previous LastPass user (several years ago) one thing I miss is being able to see recent entries that I created or modified. If the title auto-generated is not accurate I might have trouble finding it, but after creating an entry I usually double check myself (in Lastpas) and just see most recent additions.
