A post was merged into an existing topic: Chrome extension takes forever to load UI after authenticating and is extremely slow and unresponsive
I’m a longtime user and I’ve never commented here because until now I’ve been tremendously satisfied with Bitwarden. I made an account specifically to complain about your insane new UI design. Wasted space everywhere. I can’t figure out how to delete an item. I sincerely hope you scrap the wholly unnecessary new design and return to the old design, making minor tweaks only. If I see no major changes I’ll happily move to a different platform that is more responsive to user feedback.
@oat-cushy-risotto Welcome to the forum!
Go into “item view” and click on the trash symbol in the bottom right corner of the window.
The trash icon isn’t visible in dark mode.
Heck, most things aren’t visible in dark mode because your designer chose so many grays in the palette.
Sorry, I’m not a Bitwarden employee, but just another user.
On my system (Windows 11, extension 2024.12.4), I can still see the symbol:
Which version of the extension do you have? Which browser? - If you switch for a test into light mode, can you see it then?
And: are you sure, you are in “view item” mode? Because for whatever reason, it’s not there in “edit” mode for now… (which really doesn’t make any sense)
@Para Hi!
I moved your post / feature request into this existing feature request as they seem to be “identical”.
Thank you… 15 characters
Thanks! Just make this the default though. 1 click > 2 clicks … always.
You want this to be the default - with the item titles barely readable:
??
(I personally would use the separate copy buttons only in combination with “wide” or “extra wide”)
I used to be able to click the extension icon, then the entry and it autofilled. Simple. Now it brings up the entry for viewing. Which frustrates me EVERY TIME! I want to use my logins much more than I want to edit them. Add my vote to the “Please bring back the old UI or give the option to switch back” camp.
Welcome, @hotfaucet to the community!
Check out the top post in this conversation. As of version 2024.12.4, there is an option to restore that behavior.
Why did they remove it in the first place?
Assuming you mean the autofill behaviour (Fill-button vs. “the old behaviour”), here are some speculations to that: ✅ In the browser extension, make clicking anywhere on the password item do autofill, not just on the Fill button - #10 by Nail1684
I find that the new extension works fine for the most part. I have 2 griefs:
1- the “Fill” button is too small. This is usually what I want to do: select a password and fill it in. However when I click the tile, it opens it up for editing…
2. The search field shows an annoying auto-complete pop-up “Saved Info” with the latest search, usually a 3 letters word: “bou”, “ups” etc. Not particularly useful. Is it possible to disable it?
@Romain145 Welcome to the forum!
You can get the old auto-fill behaviour by checking: Settings → Autofill → Click items to autofill on Vault view (possible with extension version 2024.12.4 or higher)
As far as I know, there is no setting in the extension to either enable or disable it. In other words: I think that auto-complete pop-up is created by your browser.

This partially works, and clicking the item does the autofill. However, since the contextual entry does not have an “Edit” option, how can I edit the item now?
-
The search field definition needs the “autocomplete” option to be disabled. Here is how: ChatGPT - Disable autofill suggestions
If you enter “view”, then you see the “edit” option.
I don’t know if “it needs that to be” - since some people might want it. Again, I would say, that is your browser doing it. I don’t see that “auto-complete popup” at all on my two browsers (Brave, Vivaldi) when I use the “search”. And I think, all screenshots I’ve seen here so far, also don’t show that auto-complete pop-up. - For now, you’d have to deactivate that in your browsers settings (PS: Or in your OS… thanks to @rokejulianlockhart ).
@Nail1684 and @Romain145, the depicted context menu looks WinUI ≥2-generated, so it’s probably configurable in ms-settings:
