Recently I created an organization and community just to test it out. Now I want to revert back to a standard vault. I have done some research and I need to be careful that I do not delete all my logins. How can I accomplish this?
@sparky4460 Welcome to the forum!
By “community”, I assume that you meant “collection” — if not, please explain further what you meant.
I would suggest that you start by creating an export of everything stored in your organization vault. Log in to the Web Vault, open the Admin Console, go to Settings > Export Vault, then select “.json (Encrypted)” as the file format, selecting “Password Protected” as the Export Type, then enter (and confirm) a file password (which you’ll need to write down somewhere), before clicking Confirm format, entering your master password at the prompt, and clicking Export vault.
Next, while still in the Admin Console, click Collections in the left-hand navigation menu, and click “All items” in the Filters menu. One at a time, for each item shown, do the following:
- Click on the kebab icon (three vertical dots) to the right of the item, which opens a pop-up menu.
- In the pop-up menu, select “Clone”; this will open a “New Item” screen, containing a copy of the cloned item.
- In the “New Item” screen, you may want to delete the suffix " - Clone" that Bitwarden automatically appends to the Item Name field value.
- In the “New Item” screen, use the dropdown selector for the field Owner to change the item’s owner from the organization to your individual account.
- In the “New Item” screen, click the Save button.
After you have cloned all items in the organization vault, go to Settings > Organization Info in the left-hand navigation menu, scroll down to the “Danger Zone” section, and click Delete organization. In the prompt, read all warnings, then enter your master password, and and click Delete organization again.
