This seems similar to an idea I’ve had for some time. I have a default set of parameters I prefer to use for all logins. Sometimes the website doesn’t support the length, or special characters, etc., so I have to alter the password generator settings. No matter if I do this from the browser extension in general or within that entry, the parameters remain changed after I create the new password.
So what I would like to see happen is parameters set in general stay that way, and any changes made within a login entry get remembered for that entry’s password generator or even all URIs used by that entry (to account for having multiple accounts at a particular website that will all be subject to whatever password requirements they impose).
Some sites have password requirements which contradict each other, so I’m finding myself changing password creation rules constantly, I suggest to have a layer of per site settings which I can fill for specific sites in additional to the default password creation settings which will affect all sites without a specific setting.
There are a couple of sites forcing me to change password every few months and new sites coming from time to time, but the thing that bothers me is that I might weaken my password settings and forget to increase the strength thus ending with weaker passwords.
A few years ago I ran across a PC Magazine article “How to create a strong password generator”; recently I saw there was an update to the article Security DIY: How to Create a Strong Password Generator | PCMag
I created an extra section where I store the special characters/length that is unique for particular sites, that way when I want to change a password, I just copy the needed character set and generate an acceptable password. It would be helpful if Bitwarden had a way to change the special character set in their generator.
