Currently, despite many updates and changes in appearance, the Bitwarden extension is still “quite restrictive”. After installing the extension, you will be opened a new tab which is the Bitwarden homepage (quite meaningless). After that, if you want to change the interface, notifications, autofill behavior, or simply want to enable Make Bitwarden your default password manager
you will have to log in and go to Settings and then make changes to them.
Most of the settings inside Settings (except Account Security
and Vault
) should be able to be done without having to log in.
So I hope there is a behavior update for Bitwarden extension:
- After installing the extension, instead of opening Bitwarden home page, create/move Settings section without
Account Security
andVault
options so that users can change some behaviors like autofill, notifications, interface, set as default password manager,… - Sync settings/preferences data by account: When users log in on another device or when reinstalling the extension, they only need to log in to the account, no need to set up settings/preferences anymore.
